Paper Chained Issue 2 Out Now

Updated: Jul 6, 2021

The good people over at Running Wild have just released the second issue of Paper Chained, a journal of writings and artistic expressions from individuals affected by incarceration.

Running Wild put the call out for submissions a while back. For issue one I submitted one of my short stories, but I thought I’d do something a bit different this time. As all of my friends know, my main hobby is writing for Wikipedia. I’ve made over 50,000 edits to Wikipedia over the last 10 years and am ranked within the top 1,500 contributors by edit count. Ten articles I’ve written have been selected as Wikipedia’s article of the day. One of the many articles I’ve written there is James Francis Dwyer. Dwyer was sentenced to seven years in Goulburn prison in 1899. While in prison, much like myself, he became a writer. As part of my research into Dwyer for his article, I stumbled across a short story he wrote about prison that was published in The Bulletin in 1902. I submitted his story for this years issue of Paper Chained, and I’m happy to say they printed it (and gave me a shout-out for finding it too!) You can read the issue online here, or download a PDF here.

Paper Chained runs off donations. Please consider contributing to their current fundraiser.
