Truth to Power Cafe

I'm very honoured to have been contacted to participate in this years New Annual festival in Newcastle. I'll be one of eight speakers on stage at Truth to Power Cafe, run by the incredible Jeremy Goldstein. Jeremy has toured Truth to Power Cafe around the world and the event in Newcastle will actually be its 59th show.

Described as "revolutionary theatre at its simplest and most direct", the award-winning show tells stories in response to the question: "Who has power over you and what do you want to say to them?" I look forward to sharing my response at the event, which will be held on October 4. More details and ticket purchases can be found at the New Annual website. You can also read some media coverage of the event from Newcastle Weekly here.

While I've got your attention, if you didn't catch my recent interview with Julian Morrow from The Chaser when it went live on ABC Radio National, you can check out a recording here. Julian reached out to talk to me about my PhD research, which of course was heavily influenced by my time in prison. Speaking of which, I'm also very proud to have been recognised in this recent academic article as part of a wave of former prisoners using their lived-experience of incarceration to lobby and influence policy. The article also praises Paper Chained magazine for amplifying "voices and connections among those within the prison system". And if you haven't seen the latest issue of the magazine released this month, you can read it for free from the Paper Chained website.
